Who would have thought Astrid would be so generous to Gracie—she actually gifted her a pile of diamonds!

Feeling utterly awkward, Linda nervously returned the hairpin to her pocket, forcing a smile. "Astrid is really good to you."
Linda continued, "Indeed! If it weren't for Chief Lucas, Astrid and I would have grown old together, living happily ever after!"
"You wouldn’t believe how many young girls are clamoring to marry Astrid. Our Astrid is just too popular!"
Linda trailed off, her words hanging in the air.
"Well, I’ll be going now," she said hastily, attempting to escape the situation.
As Linda stormed into the nearby changing room, her face darkened with embarrassment, a mischievous smirk crept across Gracie's lips.
Having been around Astrid for so long, if she hadn't picked up anything else, she sure had mastered the art of getting under people's skin!
That woman thought she could bribe her with some trinket; she must be dreaming!
Speaking of those diamonds, Gracie was genuinely troubled. They were a birthday gift from Astrid, and she was terrified they might get stolen, always keeping them close. After all, they were worth a fortune!
"Gracie, what are you daydreaming about?" Astrid emerged, noticing Gracie lost in thought, and playfully flicked her forehead. "Snap out of it, silly."
Gracie chuckled, "Astrid, let me tell you about the funny thing that just happened…"
Arm in arm, Astrid and Gracie strolled off together. Unbeknownst to them, a shadowy figure slipped into Astrid's changing room after they left, quietly picking the lock.
