Love in the Limelight novel Chapter 596

After freshening up and ready to retire for the night, Astrid noticed an unread message on her phone. She opened it and glanced at the contents, letting out a soft huff.

Elio: "Are you considering attending the charity gala?"

A chill ran down Astrid's spine as she replied, "Elio, have you bugged my room or something?"

Elio: "Absolutely not."

Astrid: "Then how are you reading my mind?"

Elio: "Let's not call it mind-reading. Why not think of it as me living in your heart, knowing what you want?"

His cheesy words left Astrid stunned, with a look reminiscent of the 'confused old man on the subway' meme. She typed back, "Oh, please spare me. I'm telling you, I'm definitely going to the charity gala, and you better not stop me."

Elio: "I wouldn't dream of it. Goodnight, thinking of you."

Not stopping her? Astrid furrowed her brow, feeling certain that Elio was scheming something yet again. But as long as it didn't interfere with her plans, she'd let him be.

The next morning, Astrid arrived at the dressing room bright and early. Gracie, who had been reading through the script, pulled out the costume Astrid would need for today's scene. "Astrid, today’s scene involves some stunts. Remember, you'll be on the wires—it's quite high up, so be careful."

"Yeah, yeah, I'll be fine," Astrid nodded reassuringly. But just then, Gracie sneezed. "Achoo!"

"Achoo! Achoo!" Gracie sneezed several more times, rubbing her nose uncomfortably.

Astrid immediately turned to Talbot from the costume department and asked, "Talbot, was this costume cleaned before it was delivered?"

"Yes, it was," Talbot replied, misunderstanding Astrid's concern for cleanliness. "If you think it isn’t clean enough, I can have it washed again."

"No, that's not it. This costume has pollen on it, and Gracie is allergic," Astrid explained, pulling Gracie over. "Go see the medical team and get some antihistamines. I don't have any on me right now."

"No need," Gracie protested, waving her hand dismissively. "It's just a mild allergy, nothing serious."

Some people just sneeze with pollen allergies, but Gracie had the added bonus of developing rashes, though not usually severe.

Seeing that Gracie wasn’t leaving, Astrid turned to Selena. "Selena, help me get her out of here."
