Linda was about to speak when Emily suddenly shouted, "Linda, mind your manners."
"I..." Linda bit her lip, clearly reluctant. "It's nothing really, but I remember Astrid used to wear jewelry from this brand. It would have been nice if she had warned me beforehand."
The online chat exploded with reactions:
"???"
"Does she think Astrid has x-ray vision? How could she tell if the jewelry was fake just by looking?"
"This woman has a few screws loose, confirmed."
"How is this Astrid's fault? Come on!"
"Let's keep it civil, folks. We're fans of Astrid; let's not bring negativity her way!"
"..."
Linda's change in attitude surprised Astrid. She underestimated Emily's ability to handle even someone like Linda.
However, the designer for today's event wasn't someone Astrid had arranged.
After a moment of thought, her eyes landed on a man in the crowd wearing a hat. Her eyebrows arched slightly, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes.
The host, eager to avoid any mishaps, quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Linda, you're joking, right? Just because someone has worn jewelry from this brand before doesn't mean they can instantly tell if it's real or fake. Now, let's move on to the next part of the event."
Astrid nodded and smiled, saying nothing.
Linda, visibly displeased, took off the jewelry and tossed it on the ground without a word, her face betraying her annoyance.
As the event wrapped up, Astrid hadn't even made it out the door when Elio strode over and took her hand. "You've lost weight again. Haven't been eating properly?"
Being able to openly hold his wife's hand was a nice feeling.
