The situation was a mess.
Agnes had no idea what her next move should be.
Yet, in her heart, the years of intimacy and trust she’d shared with Elton were impossible to erase.
Agnes accepted the story Elton told her.
Because of Jenny’s betrayal, Agnes impulsively married a man she had no feelings for, a man with whom she had shared a one-night stand.
How could such a relationship be called love? How could it ever last?
"Mr. Whitfield, I'm sorry, that's my business, and I have nothing to say," Agnes stated.
To Jared, her words were as good as an admission.
Could things get any worse?
Jared, trying to keep his composure, spoke in a calm yet assured tone, "So, you're planning to leave me and abandon our child?"
"No, that's not what I mean," Agnes quickly denied.
Jared remained calm, "I want to know what you're thinking right now."
What was she thinking?
Truth be told, Agnes had no idea what she was thinking.
But the child was hers, and she couldn't just be an irresponsible mother, nor could she heartlessly take the child away from his father.
Especially since she knew she had wronged this man.
Yet she couldn't stay with this "husband" because he didn't know about her infidelity during their marriage.
If the past had led to an unhappy marriage, maybe it was time to end it.
Agnes thought she probably didn't love this man.
But she wasn't sure if she wanted to start over with Elton.
