Kearney spotted Agnes and Elton on the deck.
His face wasn't showing the surprise you'd expect. Instead, it was clouded with a rare expression of panic, a sight Agnes wasn't accustomed to.
Agnes found it odd.
As Kearney approached, Agnes cut straight to the chase, "Where's Phenix?"
Kearney replied gravely, "Something's happened. Phenix has been kidnapped."
Agnes felt her stomach drop.
Kidnapped?
Elton rushed over and asked, "What on earth happened?"
Kearney explained, "I had just stepped out to grab some breakfast, leaving her alone in the cabin. But when I got back, she was gone, and only this was left behind."
It was then that Agnes noticed the card in Kearney's hand.
The card had several words scrawled on it in what looked like blood, but Agnes couldn't make out what language it was.
"What does it mean?" Agnes asked.
Elton took the card, examined it, and said, "Whoever took Phenix is demanding you go alone to the secret room in the hold to save her."
Without a second thought, Kearney sprinted towards the secret room.
Agnes followed closely behind.
They took the elevator down, all the way to the bottom.
Agnes knew they were now below sea level.
The corridor's glass walls were submerged, with ocean waves crashing against them, threatening to break through at any moment. Agnes had no idea what kind of place this secret room was.
But Kearney clearly did, as he swiftly reached the lowest level.
They finally stopped in front of a locked door.
No matter how hard they tried, the door wouldn't budge.
Frustrated, Kearney and Elton kicked it open and stormed inside.
