Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen novel Chapter 360

Eileen stood in her cozy living room, her eyes locked on the three letters "QAQ" glaring at her from her phone screen. Her temple throbbed, and frustration bubbled up inside her.

With a determined squint, she leapt off the couch, her phone still tethered to her laptop, and started typing furiously. Her fingers danced across the keyboard, a blur of motion, as she tried to connect her tracking program.

Paulina, sitting nearby with a puzzled look, asked, "What's up with you?"

Eileen didn't respond, too focused on her task. Her fingers moved like lightning, and within a minute, the ominous letters vanished from the screen.

Eileen frowned, unsatisfied. Another minute passed, and the little digital angel that had appeared was gone too. Her brow furrowed deeper; whoever was on the other end was proving to be a formidable adversary.

"Hey, you fixed it!" Paulina exclaimed, impressed.

Eileen looked at Paulina, her expression flat as she gritted her teeth, "Disconnected. They dodged my trace again!"

Paulina blinked, confused. "Trace? What's that?"

Eileen sighed, her frustration palpable. She tapped on her phone, only to discover that the history logs had been wiped clean. Whoever she was dealing with was no amateur. A real pro, possibly even a legendary hacker. Could it really be him?

Just then, her phone rang, interrupting her thoughts. She glanced at the caller ID. It was Egbert.

She answered, and his calm, deep voice came through, "I found something."

Eileen's eyes widened in surprise.

Five minutes later, she bolted into Egbert's room, breathless with excitement. He stood there in a grey pajama set, having just opened the door.

She shut the door behind her and asked eagerly, "You found something? Really? I tried tracing, but they slipped away."

Egbert took a sip from his water glass and gestured towards his laptop on the dining table. Eileen rushed over to look.

"Time was too short," Egbert explained. "I only got a general location, not a real-time fix."

Eileen was impressed. "Did you code this? That's amazing! Under three minutes to pinpoint a location. You really are top-notch!"

She glanced at the country name displayed on the screen and raised an eyebrow. "He's in Crestland?"

Egbert nodded. "His detective server is located there, to be precise."

Eileen pondered, "He's poking the bear, isn't he?"

Egbert gave her a curious look.

Eileen squared her shoulders confidently. "Crestland's my turf. I'll drag him out into the open!"

Egbert set his glass down and leaned back on the couch, watching her with a small smile. "Still won't tell me who this mysterious caller is?"

Eileen hesitated, her eyes darting around. "I told you, just a prank call..."

Egbert didn't press further. Instead, he stood up, "It's late. You should get some rest."

Eileen glanced at him, unsure if he was upset. To be safe, she walked over and stood in front of him.

He looked down at her silently.

Eileen suddenly tilted her head up, pursing her lips playfully.

Egbert chuckled, raising a hand to gently ruffle her hair before leaning down to give her a quick peck on the lips. "Go get some sleep."

With a spring in her step, Eileen bounced back to her room.

For the next few days, her phone behaved, and she didn't receive any more mysterious calls.

Meanwhile, with Egbert and Eileen's protection, director Carrol's film production was back on track. The shoot moved swiftly, and before long, the final scenes were wrapped up.

To celebrate, director Carrol threw a farewell party for Egbert and Eileen. Though tipsy, he was sentimental, raising his glass in a wobbly toast, "Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together, may you grow old in each other's arms..."

Eileen was speechless, and Egbert simply shook his head.

The assistant director intervened awkwardly, "Director, you're drunk. This is a farewell party, not a wedding reception!"

Despite his inebriation, director Carrol clung to the table, insisting he was sober. "I'm not drunk... they really are... mmph mmph!"

Jarvis quickly covered the director's mouth, apologizing to Egbert and Eileen with a sheepish grin. "He's just emotional about you leaving."
