Eileen: "..."
Egbert: "..."
In the empty room, only the soft crooning of a song emanating from a phone echoed around them.
Egbert and Eileen exchanged a glance.
A second later, Egbert turned on his heel and headed straight for the couch.
He flipped open his laptop, swiftly connecting to the tracking software.
Eileen hurried after him to take a look.
On the screen, a small red dot moved across the map before pausing within the borders of Duskhaven.
Eileen squinted. "Didn't we trace the server back to Crestonia before?"
Egbert pursed his lips, saying nothing, as he continued to input more code.
The map zoomed in gradually, and the red dot's location became increasingly precise.
A minute later, Eileen and Egbert both frowned deeply, their expressions darkening as they looked at the address displayed on the screen.
Eileen spoke up, "Isn't this coordinate..." She looked up at Egbert, "Our room?"
In the next instant, the singing from the phone stopped!
The little angel on the screen had swapped its wedding gown for a cartoonish tuxedo, and a message appeared above its head: "Correct answer!"
Eileen: "..."
Egbert: "..."
Egbert exhaled, his brow furrowing as he said in a low voice, "It's a virtual server with multiple feedback loops; tracking automatically hides at the starting point."
Eileen stood up, placing her hands on her hips as she cursed, "That old fox!"
Egbert: "..."
The little angel: "..."
The little angel was upset, sticking out its tongue, "Nyah-nyah-nyah!"
Eileen: "..."
Then, in the next moment, both phones returned to normal.
The little angel disappeared.
Egbert picked up his phone and said, "Disconnected."
Eileen plopped down next to Egbert, fuming, "No way, I can't let this go, I'm not finished with him yet!"
Egbert glanced at her, his gaze inscrutable. After a moment of silence, he reached out to tousle her hair and said, "No rush."
The next day, Eileen and Egbert left the filming location together.
They caught the nearest flight to the USA to join up with the Eyes on the Rendezvous crew.
Galen had just wrapped up an interview and, upon returning to the hotel, was informed by the staff that the two leads had arrived.
He acknowledged with a nod, entering the elevator while asking, "What room numbers?"
The staff replied, "Right next to your room, Mr. Reed is in 608, Ms. Lopez is in 609."
Galen nodded, pressing the button for the sixth floor.
Soon, the elevator reached the sixth floor, and Galen first knocked on the door of room 608.
After one knock, there was no response.
Two knocks, still no response.
Galen frowned. He had wanted to discuss the upcoming red carpet event with Egbert.
With no other choice, Galen headed to find Eileen.
The door to room 609 swung open after just one knock.
Egbert stood there, holding a kettle in one hand and the door handle in the other.
Seeing Galen, he raised an eyebrow.
Galen: "..."
Galen stepped back, checking the room number outside the door.
609, it was definitely 609.
Galen hesitantly asked, "You..."
At that moment, Eileen's voice came from inside the room, "Egbert, where are my socks?"
Egbert opened the door wider, allowing Galen to enter, while calling back, "In the white bag."
Eileen replied quickly, "Oh, got it!"
