The dust settled as the sound of galloping hooves faded into the distance.
Louis glanced at the horizon, then back at the young lad beside him, scratching his head awkwardly. "Cerit, do you think your sister's really ditched you?"
The boy was silent, his only response being a quick dash toward the barn.
But there was no horse waiting for him, just a rooster lazily taking a nap.
Cerit stood there speechless, while his sister Eileen was already on another solo adventure.
Eileen checked her watch. The snowstorm's perimeter hadn't shifted yet. But there was something, or rather someone, she wanted to avoid even more than the storm—those damn squinty eyes.
She moved swiftly to the other side of town. This area was desolate, the hospital stripped of all supplies. Eileen found a vantage point, setting her sniper rifle to cover the main entrance.
Twenty minutes ticked by, and the snowstorm's reach expanded again, revealing a new safe zone further ahead. She got up, ready to move on, when a noise caught her ear. Her steps faltered, eyes narrowing in the direction of the sound.
From a nearby restroom, a woman's playful protest echoed: "Oh, stop it, someone might see..."
A man's voice followed, chuckling, "Don't worry, no cameras in here, just this once..."
"Bang!" Eileen kicked the restroom door wide open.
Screams erupted from inside, a woman shrieking and a man swearing.
"Who the hell are you?! Get out!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
Eileen fired twice, her pistol aimed with deadly precision.
[bo used Eagle Killer 23, eliminated Lilith]
[bo used Eagle Killer 23, eliminated Andy]
Two swift shots, two lives ended.
Lilith: "..."
Andy: "..."
Eileen blew the smoke from her gun's barrel, holstering it with a smirk. "Flashy lovebirds, quick deaths."
With that, she turned on her heel, leaving like a wicked witch on a mission.
"Mondot, Andy and Lilith are down!"
In a nearby building, Mondot's squad was regrouping, waiting for the next safe zone update. Suddenly, their watches vibrated with the notification of their teammates' demise.
Panic struck someone. "What happened? They just went to the restroom! Mondot, what now?"
All eyes turned to the tall man across the room. With his golden hair, deep-set eyes, and chiseled features, Mondot was a commanding presence.
He set down his backpack, glanced at his watch, and asked, "Anyone keeping count of this bo's kills?"
A female team member spoke up, "At least twenty or thirty. He's been at it since we touched down."
Mondot nodded, resuming his task, "Stay alert. He's close."
The squad tensed, vigilance heightened. But one member scoffed, "It's just him and some guy called Regal. Do we really need to worry this much?"
The woman replied, "Better safe than sorry. This person is unusual. He took on Dick's team, then Morvin's. He's targeting big squads like ours. I figured we'd be next."
"Enough talk, let's move."
Led by Mondot, the squad moved cautiously, exiting the building with military precision.
Outside, they saw no sign of the bo.
"I'll get the car," one member said, heading to the parking garage with another.
The rest maintained their watch.
Then, from the hospital across the way, a slender female figure emerged into view.
Mondot squinted, murmuring, "It's her."
