The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 715

Allison stood up, stretching her shoulders with a gentle sigh. Her eyes landed on the mountain of cash piled high on the table—a cool ten million dollars, just sitting there, waiting to be tucked away. But then, a thought hit her like a bolt from the blue.

She still had to break up with Lucian.

Trying to shake off the weight of the moment, Allison headed to the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face. It jolted her awake, chasing away the last traces of sleep and sparking a sudden hunger.

Opening the fridge, she grabbed a couple of tomatoes, planning to whip up some quick tomato pasta. Just then, she heard the front door open.

Lucian walked in, calling out, "I picked up some pork buns and pumpkin soup for you."

His eyes quickly found the pile of cash on the coffee table, and he stopped in his tracks, confusion and concern lacing his voice. "Where did all this cash come from? Is there some urgent reason you need it?"

Allison, already halfway through slicing a tomato, was momentarily sidetracked by the mouthwatering aroma of the pork buns. She plated them and looked up at him, saying, "Miranda gave it to me."

"What?" Lucian blinked, thinking he must have misheard.

"My mother came to you?" To Lucian, Miranda wasn’t the type to pull something like this.

"Mm-hmm, yesterday." Allison walked over to him, her movements calm and measured. "A cool million, a breakup fee."

Lucian’s face hardened.

"Why didn’t you have Tom tell me she was looking for you?"

"I didn’t see the point. You couldn’t have just dropped everything and rushed over. And besides, she’s your mother. I didn’t want to cause trouble or be the villain who drives a wedge between you two."

Allison was always mindful of her choices.

Even if Lucian loved her, could he really go against his own mother?

Lucian frowned slightly. "So, you just took it?"
