The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 714

"That assumption doesn't hold water," Miranda stated firmly. "Penelope is nothing like you, Allison. Sure, you two grew up together, but she's been raised with grace and poise. Even if she's a bit proud at times, she's still a lady at heart. She doesn't have your scheming nature; deep down, she's kind-hearted."

Allison was taken aback. She'd only met Miranda a few times, and now, in Miranda's eyes, she was this cunning manipulator.

But it made sense. Penelope had been whispering in Miranda's ear day in, day out.

In Penelope's version of events, Allison was always the villain.

"So, Miranda, what kind of person am I?" Allison asked, genuinely curious.

Miranda looked at Allison. Her delicate features and porcelain skin glowed softly under minimal makeup, her natural beauty even more striking, reminiscent of a serene moonlit spring. Initially, Miranda's impression of Allison wasn't bad, but...

"Allison, I do feel for you. You come from humble beginnings, so you're driven, clawing at every opportunity that comes your way, by any means necessary. The way you saved the old man was quite the performance of virtue, but you're too calculating, using a face so similar to Penelope's to ensnare Lucian, to catch his eye. I must admit, you've got more game than Penelope, and you've got the chops. It's no wonder Lucian's taken with you, but give it a few years, and he'll realize that the right woman for him is Penelope. She's the one who should stand by his side, not you."

Allison was dumbstruck by Miranda's tirade. "Miranda, I didn't realize that's how you saw me. But you're mistaken. Give me ten million, and I'll break it off with your son."

Clearly, Penelope's influence ran deep in Miranda's veins.

Miranda acted swiftly.

The very next day, an armored van pulled up in front of Allison's apartment building. Four men lugged several bags stuffed with cash into her living room.

Ten million in cash didn't actually take up much space – just enough to pile on a coffee table.

Miranda's lawyer was also there, handing over a transfer document, clearly stating that Allison wouldn't be sued – it was a voluntary gift from Miranda, who hoped Allison would read carefully and sign as promised.

This was also to prevent Miranda from having any regrets and accusing Allison of extortion.

After signing, the lawyer stated, "Ms. Zimmer, Miranda has asked that you take care of the matter you promised as soon as possible."

Allison nodded. "Understood. It's mentioned here that I will initiate the breakup with Lucian, and I will do just that. You have my word."
