Rewriting My Heart's Fate novel Chapter 491

Was it possible that there was truly no way back for us? Just as I was teetering on the edge of despair, my phone chimed with a notification.

Trembling, I swiped it open.

"I'm sorry, Evelyn. This is all my fault. I don't deserve to love you right now because… I'm not worthy of you. You deserve a better life, not to be held back by someone like me. So, please, forget about me. I wish you… a bright future ahead."

My eyes widened in disbelief.

"Ethan, you bastard. Get out here!" I screamed at my phone. My voice was breaking. But no matter how loudly I called for him, there was no response.

What a coward! He didn't even have the guts to tell me face-to-face! Sneaking around with Vivian—what kind of man did that make him?

The thought of it made my blood boil. I shot to my feet. I was not just going to sit here and accept this. I would find him and make him explain himself.

I stormed out of the office and headed straight for the newly rebuilt Grayson Group headquarters. But when I arrived, the receptionist informed me that Ethan had left the country and hadn't informed anyone when he would be back.

I froze, feeling as though ice water had been poured over me. He was avoiding me, wasn't he? I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I dialed his number, only to find it was disconnected.

A wave of pain crashed over me. I collapsed at the entrance of the building and sobbed uncontrollably. Passerby began to stare and whisper, "Isn't that Evelyn?"

"Yeah, why is she crying here?"

"Who knows? We won't understand what's happening."
