I shot her a cold, mocking look and sneered. "Oh, really? But I don't buy it. After all, the kind of pride you've got as a spoiled heiress doesn't just go away overnight."
Vivian shook her head frantically and denied it over and over. "No, that's not true! I'm truly sorry. I won't disrespect you again! I'll do whatever you ask if you let me go, and I promise I won't cause any more trouble!"
I scoffed and stepped closer to her. "What if I told you to deal with your dad and help me get Zach back? Would you do it?"
Vivian's eyes went wide, and her face went pale.
"I-I…" she stammered, clearly at a loss for words.
"I knew it. You talk a big game, but that's all it is. Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're playing the victim. Let me make this clear—unless Zach's back with me, you're not leaving here alive!"
Vivian closed her eyes in despair, tears streaming down her face. "Just kill me already, Ms. Wiley… My life's been yours for so long. As for my dad… there's nothing I can do about it…"
I sneered. "That's not for you to decide. You're my hostage now, so stay in your lane."
I pulled out a voice recorder and dangled it in front of her. "Later, you're going to call Murphy and sah exactly what I tell you to say. Tell him to hand over Zach in one piece, or I'll end your life!"
Vivian trembled in fear, looking at me with pleading eyes. "Ms. Wiley, please, think this through… My dad hates being threatened. If he finds out you've taken me, he'll certainly—"
