What on earth is that woman doing at this hour, making such a racket?
The noise was getting louder, to the point where Astrid feared the ceiling might come crashing down.
She got up, slipped on her clothes, and went to knock on the door.
After a considerable wait, someone finally shuffled over, grumbling under their breath, "Who is it? Don't kill our vibe."
When the door swung open, a scruffy-looking man stood in the doorway.
His eyes lit up the moment he saw Astrid. "Oh, it's the lovely Miss Astrid. Care to join the party? I'm Darius, here to visit Linda."
Astrid kept her expression cool. "You're disturbing my sleep. Please keep it down."
Darius couldn’t help but feel a tingle of excitement looking at Astrid’s strikingly beautiful face. "Alright, alright. Go on back to bed. I'll make sure they lower the volume."
"Darius, what are you doing dawdling at the door? Get back in here; it's your turn to sing!" Another man's voice called out from inside.
With a lazy lift of her gaze, Astrid turned to leave without another word.
But once back in her room, the music not only persisted, it seemed to get even louder.
Frustrated, Astrid sat up and called Chad.
Chad, in the middle of a deep sleep, was jolted awake by the ringing phone. He muttered irritably, "Who the hell is disturbing my sleep at this ungodly hour?"
But the moment he squinted at the screen and saw Astrid's name, he answered immediately, "Chief, what's wrong? Calling this late, is it something urgent?"
