"Why do you even care? Even if she brings a whole entourage, her final look and makeup are still going to be based on the director’s vision, right? It’s not like she can magically sprout a flower or something," Astrid yawned, getting ready to video call Roman. But before she could, Gracie snatched her phone away.
Astrid raised an eyebrow, puzzled, "Gracie, what are you doing?"
"Don’t rush to video call Roman. I have something to ask you," Gracie said, her voice slightly awkward. It was a rare sight for Astrid to see her friend like this.
After a moment’s thought, a sly grin appeared on Astrid’s lips, "What is it? You want to know something about Rickon again?"
Gracie moved closer, hugging Astrid’s arm, "Rickon’s birthday is coming up, isn’t it? What does he actually like? I feel like I’ve been with him for so long, and I still can’t figure it out."
"His likes?" Astrid playfully pinched Gracie’s chin. "He likes you."
"Just gift-wrap yourself and hand it over."
"Come on, I’m being serious here. Don’t tease me!" Gracie flopped onto the bed with a sigh. "Astrid, sometimes I feel like maybe Rickon doesn’t really like me that much."
Astrid turned to look at Gracie, a slight pout on her lips, "Why would you think that?"
"Our relationship feels off. We’ve been together for ages, and while he often gives me gifts, isn’t it said in stories that someone in love looks at their partner differently? But Rickon looks at everyone the same way—it’s as if he’s sizing up targets at the shooting range." Gracie felt a bit defeated as she spoke.
She had invested so much, hoping for a response from him, even just a smile.
But it was always her initiating hand-holding, her reaching out for hugs.
Over time, it was really tiring.
Astrid watched Gracie’s demeanor, silent for a few seconds, then picked up her phone and called Rickon Brooke.
After a few rings, Rickon answered, "Star, what’s up? Do you need money again?"
Astrid: "..."
"Rickon, where are you right now?"
