The sudden turn of events left Agnes utterly speechless.

She stood there, frozen, not quite processing what had just happened. Meanwhile, Elton was already sprawled on the ground from a heavy punch.

A shadowy figure stepped forward, grabbed Elton by the collar, and continued to pummel him mercilessly. Strangely enough, Elton made no attempt to defend himself.

This was not the Elton Agnes knew. In her mind, he was always the type to retaliate tenfold if anyone dared to cross him.

Elton took several more hits, finally turning his head to spit out some blood, along with a broken tooth. That was when Agnes snapped back to reality.

The assailant was none other than Jared, the guy who had followed her home. Agnes rushed over, shoving Jared away as she yelled, "You maniac! What are you doing?"

Jared, seeing the damage he'd done with a tooth missing from Elton's mouth, decided to back off. He released Elton, took a couple of steps back, and calmly adjusted his sleeves.

Agnes hurried to Elton’s side, frantic with worry. "Elton, are you okay?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Elton was a bit dazed, shaking his head to clear it as he spat out more blood. With Agnes's help, he managed to get to his feet.

Agnes glanced up, seeing Jared standing there with a composed demeanor, almost like a gentleman, despite the violent act he'd just committed. He casually draped his blood-stained jacket over his arm, an air of nonchalance about him.

Her anger flared. Agnes had already had a poor opinion of Jared, especially after their first meeting when he had tried to kiss her without consent. Now, seeing him act so nonchalant after hurting someone, she was livid.
