Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1257

Agnes stood there, frozen in place. A strange, uncomfortable feeling welled up inside her. It wasn't that she still harbored any lingering feelings for Elton. But seeing him in such a state was still hard to witness.

In her heart, despite the betrayal and the deep despair and anger she once felt, Agnes had moved on. She truly hoped that the boy who once shared her youthful days would find happiness. After all, she understood that Elton had been manipulated by Jenny back then.

Watching him suffer like this, unable to let go of the past, made Agnes feel uneasy. Eventually, she snapped back to reality, calling over a waiter from the deck to help get Elton back to his room. Elton was thoroughly drunk, and the waiter easily deposited him onto the couch before leaving.

Agnes stood there, unsure of what to do with Elton in such a state. She considered just walking away, leaving him to his own devices. But in the end, she couldn't bring herself to be that heartless.

Instead, she headed to the kitchen, rummaging around until she found some peas. She decided to whip up a pot of pea soup, hoping it might help sober him up. Soon enough, the soup was ready, and she ladled some into a bowl and brought it out to him.

But Elton wasn't where she'd left him. Instead, he was by the fridge, pulling out another bottle of beer. Agnes rushed over, grabbing his arm. "No more drinking, Elton. You're already wasted. Drink this instead," she insisted, holding out the soup.

Elton's bleary eyes struggled to focus on her face. When he finally did, he chuckled, "Agnes, am I dreaming?"
