"Are you out of your mind, Yvan?" Matilda gasped as she struggled against Yvan's grip. His heart ached, but he was at a loss for how to end the chaos between them. If sacrificing himself could bring peace to their tumultuous relationship, then maybe he was willing to take that route.
"Matilda, you say I'm ruthless, but right now, you're the one being heartless, way more than I ever was!" Yvan grabbed her arm with a firm grip and pushed her onto the bed. His arms encircled her waist, making her shiver with fear. "You're crazy! This is the real you, isn't it, Yvan? That amnesiac persona was just a facade!"
"If you think it's a facade, then let it be!" Yvan shouted hysterically. "To you, I'm nothing but a despicable man, right? If that's what you believe, what else do I have to lose?"
Yvan reached for Matilda's clothes, and she panicked, her eyes welling up. "Don't touch me, Yvan, you're not like this... no..."
"What am I like?" Yvan's laugh was bitter. "What do you see in me? Is this the real me?"
Matilda couldn't find the words, trembling all over. "I... I thought you changed for the better after you lost your memory..."
"Changed for the better?" Yvan laughed derisively. "Or did I just become easier for you to manipulate and hurt?"
Matilda was stunned, never expecting Yvan to describe their relationship this way. Her hands and feet were pinned, and despite her struggles, Yvan's kiss descended upon her.
The coldness of that kiss sent a chill through Matilda's heart. Yvan's touch was frigid, a stark contrast to the once fiery presence that could set her ablaze just by being near. She bit him fiercely, drawing blood, and Yvan pulled back, wiping the corner of his mouth with his thumb.
