Tessa took Matthew's company and divorced him. She was the one who abandoned the family, but now Jennifer blamed everything on him.
Feeling exasperated, Matthew rolled up his sleeves. "You're pushing your luck. I should've slapped you harder last time."
Upon seeing Matthew roll up his sleeves, Jennifer was startled and quickly stepped back, but she quickly regained her composure and pointed at the ground.
"We're at the entrance of Wealthwave Group. That president, who's been supporting you, is up there watching. I doubt you have the nerve to hit me."
Matthew sported a cold look. "Even if the Almighty is watching, I will slap you."
Jennifer shook her head. She was convinced that Matthew cared about how Rachel viewed him. Besides, the barking dog seldom bit. Matthew had to just be putting up a tough act to intimidate Jennifer.
Thinking she could see right through Matthew, Jennifer indifferently declared, "If you don't give me the money, I'll show up at the entrance of Wealthwave Group every day with the banner. Since the president can see me from up there, you wouldn't even dare to lay a finger on me."
Just as Jennifer wrapped up her sentence, Matthew slapped her across the face. The loud smack was crisp and clear like a firework.
After getting slapped, Jennifer stumbled back a few steps and ended up on the floor. She could vividly feel a stinging pain on her face.
With one hand covering her face, Jennifer exclaimed in disbelief, "Y-you actually hit me? Aren't you worried about how this looks to the president? She'd think you're an abusive person."
Matthew was ready to smack Jennifer again when he suddenly heard someone calling for help nearby.
"Help me, Matthew…"
