The Great Medical Saint novel Chapter 487

Before Matthew could comprehend what had happened, Caleb had already started dealing the cards. After he handed out three cards to everyone, he said, "I'll keep my cards face down. The bet is 10 thousand dollars."

Upon seeing this, Matthew frowned. Caleb was too skilled in dealing cards, making it look like he had a plan. If he cheated, he could manipulate the cards everyone would get.

Matthew decided to give it a try. "I'll keep my cards face down too." After saying that, Matthew tossed in a chip with the value of 10 thousand dollars.

Jane flipped her cards over. She glimpsed at her cards and tossed two chips on the table. "Fold."

She then revealed her hand. According to the rules, it was considered shown.

Players with hidden cards had to wager 10 thousand dollars. Those with face-up cards had to double the bet. So, she had lost 20 thousand dollars in this game.

After a quick peek at his cards, Sebastian wagered 20 thousand dollars as well. "Call."

Caleb tossed two more chips on the table for the second round. "I'll raise to 20 thousand dollars."

As Caleb spoke, he looked at Matthew to taunt him to call again. The latter added two more chips to the pot without hesitation.

Matthew didn't look at his card. It was all about the adrenaline rush this round. Sebastian hesitated before folding.

Then, it was Caleb's turn again. He added another 20 thousand dollars into the pile. "I check for 20 thousand dollars."

Matthew tossed in four chips and stated, "Show your cards."

With that, Matthew flipped over his cards first. He had the Ace of Spades, King of Hearts, and Queen of Diamonds.

Matthew was surprised. That was a pretty strong hand. If he had seen his cards, he'd have raised the bet. If Caleb cheated, he would've had a straight flush. Even the smallest straight flush beat a straight.

Matthew had a strong feeling about his guess. Caleb showed his hand, showing 4, 5, and 6 of clubs.

He yelled, "Oh my goodness! It's a straight flush. I've won."

Matthew was utterly speechless. He was certain that Caleb had cheated. If Caleb followed the typical patterns of grifters, he'd win three times and lose once before passing it to another player to be the dealer.

Matthew only stood a chance when Caleb was no longer the dealer, and he became one. For the next two rounds, Matthew checked his cards before folding.

After Jane dealt and won a hand, it was soon Matthew's turn to be the dealer.

As Matthew held his cards, he was filled with confidence. As he shuffled, he figured out the card values and started dealing.

Matthew dealt himself the Ace of Hearts first. As he was about to give a card to Sebastian, he casually glanced at Caleb.

With just a quick look, Matthew furrowed his brows. Matthew noticed that Caleb was looking right at his card. Something felt off. Was there a mark on the back of the cards?

As Matthew was handing out the cards, he discreetly observed Caleb's eyes. He had a weird feeling that there wasn't a flicker of emotion in them.

With the discovery, Matthew thought about Caleb's state recently and yesterday. He became even more convinced that something was wrong with Caleb's eyes.

Upon realizing this, Matthew became more cautious. For the next three rounds, Matthew dealt cards with lower values to Caleb, and the latter immediately folded.

In the fourth round, Matthew decided to go all out and dealt Caleb three Aces. He gave three Kings to Sebastian and handed Ace-high straight flush to Jane. Then, Matthew dealt himself 2, 3, and 6 of the same suit.

Caleb, Sebastian, and Jane had impressive hands, but Jane topped the round with a straight flush. Sebastian ranked second with a Three of a Kind. Caleb's cards totally beat Sebastian with the best set of Three of a Kind.
