Matthew sighed. "He's not really tough. Maybe he's taken so many slashes that he's not scared of getting hurt anymore."
Had Sebastian suffered so many slashes? Renae couldn't believe it, wondering how many times Sebastian had been hurt to be viewed that way.
If being aggressive didn't do the trick, Renae was out of ideas. "What do we do from here then?"
Matthew didn't have any better ideas as well. "Looks like I'll be sticking around to join him for card games tonight."
…
Under the cover of the night, three cars were parked at the entrance of an alley. Leo got into one of them.
Upon seeing Leo, Dominic tossed him a cigarette. "Did you get the scoop on Matthew's background?"
Leo's expression lit up with excitement. "I found something."
Dominic's interest was piqued. "What's the deal with Matthew?"
Besides them, Lucien tossed aside his phone and leaned closer. He stared intently at Leo, waiting for him to spill the beans.
A hint of disdain crossed Leo's face. "I was under the impression he was a pretty important person, but my findings surprised me. I can't believe he is just a bumpkin."
Bumpkin? Dominic was taken aback. "Just a bumpkin?"
Leo grinned and added, "You guys didn't see that coming, did you? I didn't either. He lives at Silverbrook Village located in the Brackenridge district of Lambda City.
"Given who he is, he's not even worth my time. Seriously, the mission wants us to protect him?"
