Renae's mouth twitched. She doubted that Matthew would do anything to her.
Right then, Renae was only thinking about seeing Marcus' murderer, and she was so close to her goal. All she had to do was push the door open, and she'd find the murderer inside. She just had to get in there.
If Matthew wasn't going to do anything, she'd take her chances. With a pitiful expression, Renae looked at Matthew,
An intense anger flared up in Matthew. Once he pushed open the door, things were going to get dangerous. It was a matter of life and death, but Renae was still causing trouble.
Matthew flicked his hand. He was on the verge of slapping Renae across her face. He did his best to suppress his anger and glared at her, hoping to scare her away with his stare.
However, Renae wasn't budging. She wrapped both her arms around Matthew's tightly and firmly stated, "No matter what, I'm going in with you."
Matthew immediately erupted in anger. As he yanked his arm away, he grabbed Renae's arm and smacked her on the butt. A sharp slap rang out, and the muscles of her bottom jiggled.
Matthew didn't hold back with that slap, knocking Renae off balance. She winced in pain, and all her muscles tensed up.
Tears streamed down her cheeks. With misty eyes, she gazed at him and insisted, "Whether you like it or not, I'm going in."
Renae had never been slapped this hard in her entire life. Her backside stung like crazy. It was a mix of numbness, tingling, and a pain so intense that she broke into tears.
Part of Renae wanted to grab Matthew's arm and bite it, but she didn't have the nerve. His gaze was just too intimidating. She also understood that he just wanted to protect her, so she didn't want to be ungrateful.
Why was Renae so adamant about entering?
Matthew had barely contained his anger when Renae ticked her off again. He raised his hand and spanked her butt repeatedly.
Matthew kept slapping her until his hand started to feel numb. Then, he finally stopped and softly reprimanded Renae.
"Get out. Did you hear me? I'll take care of everything."
Renae was in a daze. Her butt felt numb, almost like she couldn't feel it at all. It seemed swollen as well. Tears ran down her cheeks like a flood.
After Marcus had died, no one cared about Renae's safety. Every man just wanted to get something from her. But today, she finally met a man who used force to keep her from walking into danger.
Still, Matthew was too violent. He had hit her way too hard.
