The Great Medical Saint novel Chapter 401

For the first time in forever, Renae finally felt a spark in her heart. Matthew's arm was nestled against something soft. As they moved, he felt flustered, and it showed in the way he spoke.

"Look. Even if I wanted to help you, who am I supposed to go after?"

He could barely keep it together. The charm of a mature woman had thrown him for a loop.

Compared to the inexperienced Rachel, Renae was in a league of her own. With the way Renae moved and spoke, any man would fall under her thumb.

Renae thought for a moment and said, "I have a feeling that Ted knows something. When he first came to seek medical help, he complained of ringing in his ears. However, I didn't see any signs of inflammation, and it didn't seem like an imbalance of energy or any related symptoms.

"Even though I'm a doctor, he thought I wouldn't be able to figure out the ringing in his ears. But I saw right through him. After that, he kept using it as an excuse to come to me for medical advice."

Matthew nodded. It appeared that Renae's medical expertise had truly come into its own, but he couldn't wrap his head around why she didn't expose Ted.

"You knew Ted wasn't up to anything good, so why didn't you turn him down?"

Renae shook her head. "If I turn Ted away, they might send someone else to approach me next time. It would only make things harder for me."

Matthew realized Reane made a good point. So she was both clever and careful.

Renae continued, "Ted always seemed to find a way to ask about the medical books. He talked about a friend who collects antiques, with a focus on medical stuff. Some of the medical literature could sell for millions of dollars. He asked if I had any old medical literature."

Matthew recalled Howard was collecting medical literature as well.

They were all after the book from Medieval Sect called Medieval Medicine. And this time, in the search for Afflictan Sect's Scholarly Tradition, someone tried the same tactic again.

It didn't take Matthew long to realize that, when it came to finding something, nothing was more effective than money.

Renae didn't sell her medical literature but stayed in this rundown village, making a living as a doctor. Her character was truly admirable. Matthew couldn't help but feel more respect for Reane.

"How about we start by investigating Ted?"
