Emily was dumbfounded and couldn't process what she had just heard. It wasn't until Matthew prompted her that she snapped back to reality and pulled out her phone. "My bank account number is 622…" she said.
Without a word, he transferred 100 million dollars into her account. "Here's the money. Use it as you see fit, but keep the receipts for the finance department."
A notification popped up. "Your account has received 100 million dollars."
Emily felt as if she were dreaming when she stared at the message. "Okay. I'll start my research at your company. Let's sign the contract now."
Tracy was stunned that money was being used to persuade Emily. Surprisingly, Emily was swayed by the offer and agreed to join their company.
Matthew was pleased to have secured such a renowned scientist. He said, "Great, let's get the contract signed. Also, you'll need to build your own team. Recruit whoever you want. You can start hiring today."
Emily was thrilled about the chance to choose her own team. In the past, she had worked with researchers assigned to her who didn't meet her expectations.
Now, she could choose her own team from scratch. The sudden opportunity was almost too good to be true.
"Perfect," she said without hesitation. "I'll call my students and colleagues, then hire the right experts for the research needs. I'll handle the interviews today."
Matthew instructed Tracy to bring the contract and finalize the paperwork with Emily. Then, he left them to manage the recruitment process.
Ronald staggered to his feet and was reeling from the blow. He leaned against the desk to steady himself.
When he saw Matthew, his fury flared up immediately. Then, he recalled Isaac had already prepared a plan to kill Matthew.
