The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 739

Annie hurried over, concern etched on her face. "Charlie, you alright?"

Charlie bent down, retrieved a crumpled business proposal from the trash, smoothed it out, and handed it to Annie. "Check this out. We need a top-notch newbie to lead this project."

"Got it."

Annie had been Charlie's right-hand woman ever since Charlie joined Epic Entertainment.

Holding the proposal, Annie hesitated. "Charlie, I'm worried about Penny. No need to be so harsh. We can still negotiate. She's probably off to see Lucian. After all, she's his fiancée. If Lindberg Corp gets involved..."

Charlie looked up, her tone sharp. "Do you really think Kenneth would pull out without the Lindbergs' approval?"

Annie was taken aback. "But... Penny's Lucian's fiancée. Why would he agree to withdraw funding? A few hundred million is pocket change for the Lindbergs. Wouldn't that embarrass Penny?"

"Do you think Lucian cares about Penny?" Charlie's lips curled into a faint smile. "Men like him—powerful, untouchable—if he cared, Penny would have better resources. And the lead in 'Day Zero' wouldn't have gone to Allison."

Allison had just wrapped up her latest film and was craving some downtime.

Lucian had mentioned he'd have a week off and suggested a short getaway.

She agreed.

They chose a quaint little town, three hours from Glory City.

Allison scheduled all her magazine shoots and ad work for the weekend, leaving Monday free for the trip with Lucian. She'd done her homework—there was a street famous for its food, Instagram-worthy spots, and a temple, all full of local charm and history.

After a hectic weekend of shoots, Monday morning found Allison at home, waiting for Lucian.

But 10 o'clock came and went without a sign of him.
