The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 736

Hughes' eyes were steady as he firmly said, "I've told you before, I don't want it."

His relationship with his mother, Mina, was complicated. Their values and beliefs couldn't be more different.

Absentmindedly, he placed a hand on his stomach, pressing lightly on the spot where he'd once been injured. Though the wound had healed, stress sometimes made the old pain resurface.

Mina, unaware of his internal struggle, continued, "Do you have any idea how hard I've fought to get where I am? Markus owes me so much. Every step I took was through blood, sweat, and tears."

"Your struggles don't give you the right to make innocent people suffer. Mina, did you have anything to do with that car accident Frances and Wilton were in when they were kids?"

She didn’t deny it. "So what if I did?"

"That's a crime!" Hughes' face turned pale.

"In the Boswell family, no one's hands are clean. Frances and Wilton are still alive, aren’t they? And if you think I'm a criminal, Markus has done far worse." Mina's smile faded, replaced by a mixture of love, resentment, and guilt towards her son. His birth had made her life a struggle, yet without it, she wouldn’t have known that even in bitterness, there could be sweetness.

Suddenly, Hughes clenched his jaw, his face ghostly white.

"What's wrong?" Mina noticed his distress.

"Stop the car!" Hughes yelled.

"I don't need your help!" he snapped at Mina.

The driver, loyal to Mina, didn't dare stop. Frustrated, Hughes kicked the seat in front of him. Mina immediately ordered, "To the hospital!"
