The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 708

Alison chuckled in agreement.

Lately, Patty had been completely absorbed with Epic Entertainment. She hadn't been able to reach Mr. Landry or Mr. Sears, and suspected they were intentionally staying under the radar to avoid any blunders. Kenneth, however, was a regular presence at the office. Patty had a decent relationship with Kenneth, but they weren't particularly close. She got along much better with Hudson.

This time around, it seemed like most people at Epic Entertainment thought that Kenneth would be the one to get the boot, and Patty was poised to step into the vacant Vice President position.

One morning, there was a knock on Patty's office door. When she looked up, she saw Raine, one of her lesser-known clients. Raine stepped in, glanced around to make sure they were alone, and then closed the door behind her.

"Patty, I was out shopping the other day and picked up this pendant. I think it would suit you perfectly. Take a look," she said, handing over a Bulgari pendant worth over fifty thousand dollars.

Patty glanced at it. "This is way too valuable. I can't accept it."

"Oh, Patty, it’s just a little something from me," Raine said, walking over to clasp the necklace around Patty's neck. Patty wasn't wearing any jewelry at the time, and the necklace complemented her elegance instantly.

"Check this out, Patty," Raine said, handing her a mirror. "Isn't it fabulous? This kind of classy pendant doesn’t suit me at all, but it’s just perfect on you."

Gifting between actors and agents was common in the entertainment industry. After all, a top agent like Patty had numerous clients, and it was inevitable that resources would be unevenly distributed sometimes. A small gift here and there could help one secure better opportunities.

Raine, who made a tidy sum through live streams and web series promotions, didn’t think twice about gifting a pendant worth a few thousand. "Patty, I heard they’re going to shoot 'Phoenix Song'. Could you see if I could land the role of the second female lead?"

Raine had acted in quite a few dramas, especially period pieces where she was a familiar face, often playing the villainous second lead. Fans would say just hearing her name made their teeth itch.
