A gentle smile graced my lips as I explained, "Zachary means 'dear' and 'to remember.' I think about our baby all the time. He's the fruit of our love. I want us to work hard to give Zachary a happy life in the future."
Ethan smiled too, his eyes lighting up with fondness. "Okay. Zachary Grayson it is."
He sat up on the bed and kissed Zachary on the forehead.
"Zachary, Daddy and Mommy want you to know that you're our dearest and most treasured child. We'll love you from the bottom of our hearts and let you grow up happily and healthily."
The moonlight cast its gentle glow on us, and the stars flickered in the night sky above as Ethan and I fell asleep with our arms around each other and Zachary between us.
After staying at the hospital for a week, I was finally discharged and could leave the hospital with Zachary.
Ethan came early in the morning to drive us home. There was no hiding the excitement on his face.
"Let's go," he said. "It's time to go home. I prepared Zach's crib. I guarantee that it'll be all good and comfy and home."
I couldn't help but laugh at how funny Ethan was being a first-time father. These days, he'd do anything and everything for Zachary. It was as if he'd pull his heart out from his chest for Zachary.
Ethan did lots of research regarding baby products for the past few days. He wanted nothing but the best for Zachary.
I joked that he'd turn into a yes-man when it came to me and Zachary.
"Let's go." I beamed with pride as I walked over to Ethan with Zachary in my arms.
I was surprised when someone suddenly showed up and blocked our way out. When I looked up to see who it was, it was no other than Vivian.
"Oh? Aren't you two the male and female leads?" she said scornfully, then looked at Zachary. "Why, that's quite the plump baby you've got there. Not bad."
I instinctively turned sideways to shield Zachary from her.
