Rewriting My Heart's Fate novel Chapter 503

"Ethan, your son is a descendant of our family," said Julia. "How could you even think of hiding this from us?"

"You—" Ethan gritted his teeth. A vein on his temple pulsed, and I could tell that he was going to yell at her.

I hastily tugged at the corner of his sleeve. Forcing a smile on my already frail face, I said, "Hi, Julia."

Julia's eyes fell on me as she looked me up and down with her piercing gaze. A moment later, she snorted contemptuously.

"Aren't you just relentless, Evelyn? You got pregnant with Ethan's child in secret. Were you planning on becoming his wife?" she seethed.

The color faded from my cheeks. The way Julia put it was simply too horrible.

Was I a vixen in her eyes?

Ethan and I were married. There was nothing wrong with us starting a family of our own.

I suppressed the anger in me and put on a smile. "You misunderstand us. Ethan and I are husband and wife. It's normal for a married couple to have children."

I added, "Come and take a look at our son. He looks just like Ethan when he was young. Do you want to hug him?"

I carefully handed Julia the baby, hoping that she would give in. However, she scowled and moved away, avoiding the baby.

"No, thanks. Who knows if that baby is actually Ethan's," she said scornfully. "You're such a minx. I don't want to take a bastard home."

"Mom!" Ethan roared. "How could you say that!"

Unable to suppress his anger, he punched the wall. "You've gone overboard! Evelyn's my wife. Of course, the baby's mine! How could you humiliate her like that!"

"Humiliate?" Julia sniggered. "I'm doing this for the sake of our family!"
