Rewriting My Heart's Fate novel Chapter 497

Ethan held me tightly and kissed me passionately. Passersby glanced at us and whispered among themselves, but I didn't care anymore.

All I wanted was to embrace the man I loved. Even if the world were coming to an end, I would never let him go.

Ethan and I ran all the way to the courthouse. After a simple ceremony, we received our marriage certificate. Just like that, I became Ethan's wife, and he became the pillar of support for the rest of my life.

As we walked out of the courthouse, I clung tightly to him. I felt so happy that I could almost faint.

"Honey, let's go home," I said.

Ethan paused for a moment. Then, he flashed the brightest smile I had ever seen. "Sure, my darling. Let's go home."

After our marriage, Ethan and I grew even closer. He spoiled me almost every day. He treated me like the center of his world and ensured I had everything I wanted.

Wrapped in the warmth of our bliss, I believed our future would be nothing less than perfect.

One night, as we lay in bed, Ethan held me close and whispered softly in my ear, "Evelyn, have you ever thought about having a baby?"

I froze. I frantically pushed him away. "N-No… We've only just gotten married…"

Ethan frowned. He was visibly displeased. "Why not? You're my wife. Isn't it only natural for you to bear me a child?"

His words made me uneasy. Could he be thinking of using a child to bind me to him completely?

The word pregnancy alone dredged up painful memories from my past life. Back then, Ethan and I had been overjoyed to discover I was pregnant. I had cherished the tiny life growing inside me with utmost care.

I couldn't bring myself to face that kind of pain again in this life. I was terrified of pregnancy, terrified of losing a child once more. I feared that having a child might entangle me further with Ethan, making it impossible to let go.

"We should wait. The company is at a critical stage right now." I tried to find an excuse.
