Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1301

Jared still had a million questions swirling around in his mind.

For instance, was Agnes experiencing partial amnesia, or had she forgotten everyone and everything entirely?

What on earth had happened to her?

How had she been rescued? Where had she been for the whole month, and why hadn't he been able to trace her whereabouts?

But as Jared thought about it, he figured that since Agnes was finally back, they could figure things out over time.

Yet, Agnes's current demeanor was puzzling.

Why was she so distant?

"Agnes," Jared said, trying to keep his voice steady, "we’re married. Aren’t you planning to come back home with me?"

The situation felt incredibly awkward.

A stranger claiming to be her husband, yet it was the truth. But Agnes's memories were void of him.

In her mind, she was still eighteen, both in maturity and experience.

Even though Elton had filled her in on the major events of her life over the years, it all felt like watching a movie about someone else's life, a story detached from her own reality.

Agnes hesitantly replied, "I’m sorry, Mr. Whitfield. I really don’t remember you. Elton told me we’re married, but right now, you just feel like a stranger. I can’t accept that you’re my husband yet..."

Jared sensed something troubling in her words.

His expression darkened. "Elton? You’ve been with him all this time?"

Agnes blinked, taken aback. "He’s the one who saved me from the sea."

Jared's heart clenched.

After the incident, Jared had deployed every resource to search the ocean for a month.

Elton had been doing the same, keeping in touch, claiming no luck in finding her.
