Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1293

But how on earth did the madman know his name? And why did he have a photo of himself on the bedside table?

Agnes couldn't shake the image of his expression from her mind—the disbelief and joy when he first saw her, and finally, the resignation and despair.

She believed that a person's eyes couldn't lie. And his eyes, well, they didn’t seem to be lying.

Yet, Agnes couldn't accept it all at once. She needed to take a step back, gather her thoughts. So, she did the only thing she could think of—she ran.

In her memories, the most important person was Elton. Whatever Elton said, she believed without question.

She had to clear this up with him.

Tossing and turning on the bed, Agnes couldn’t stop seeing that man’s face in her mind. She lay there, chewing on her nails, thinking, “This can’t be true. It’s impossible.”

Her head throbbed as if a thousand ants were crawling around inside. Desperate for answers, she waited impatiently for Elton to return.

Elton finally came back at four in the morning. They were staying in a presidential suite with several rooms, and naturally, they slept in separate ones.

Unable to sleep, Agnes had gotten up and was now sitting on the couch in the living room.

When Elton came in, he didn’t notice her at first and walked straight towards his room.
