Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1289

Every step felt like treading on the wheels of time.

Agnes remembered everything about this place.

Every room, every piece of furniture.

Before she knew it, she found herself at the door to her old room.

The door was ajar, and the lights were on inside.

But there wasn't a soul in sight.

Everything inside felt so familiar to Agnes.

Even her childhood teddy bear was still sitting in the glass cabinet.

And the painting by her bedside.

She had bought it at her first art exhibition at fifteen—a piece titled "Into the Woods."

Agnes slowly walked in.

It was as if nothing had changed.

The place was spotless, clearly well-maintained and lived in.

Agnes didn’t dare touch anything.

Even though many things were once hers, they no longer belonged to her.

After standing there for a moment, Agnes decided to leave.

But as she turned, she noticed a photograph on the bed.

And it wasn't just any photo—it was of her.

Agnes found it odd and quickly went over to take a closer look.

If the house had been sold and belonged to someone else, why was there a photo of her in this room?

Her heart skipped a beat.

As she was lost in thought, she suddenly heard soft footsteps outside.

Agnes snapped back to reality.

Almost instinctively, she opened a wardrobe and hid inside.

But once inside, she felt irresponsible.

She had intruded, fully aware of the consequences.

Perhaps the owner had returned.

And there she was, hiding in a closet, without facing up to her actions.

But since she was already here, Agnes decided to go with it.

If she stepped out now, she’d probably give the owner a fright.

Besides, there was one thing she hadn't figured out.

Why was her photo still in the room?

Could the owner be someone she knew?
