Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1246

"Don't panic just yet," Elton said, trying to keep his voice steady. "We don't know the situation over there. Even if Phenix is awake, it doesn't mean something bad will happen."

"Elt, you don't understand Phenix," Agnes replied with a worried frown. "She's madly in love with her big brother. If she finds out it was our other brother who killed him, she might do something drastic. We have to get there. Nate, can you get us tickets?"

Nate nodded. "Already got four."

After some deliberation, they decided to board the ship, needing to figure out what was really happening. Hopefully, Phenix was just taking a breather. But they feared she might do something extreme.

Their flight was early in the morning. That night, everyone crowded into Nate's small apartment to catch a few hours of rest.

Agnes couldn't sleep. She got up for a drink of water in the middle of the night. As she stepped out of the bedroom, she saw Naylor sprawled out on the sofa. There was only one bedroom, which she shared with Nate, while the other rooms were crammed with his stuff. So, Naylor and Elton were left with the living room.

Not seeing Elton, Agnes felt a pang of curiosity but dismissed it and headed to the kitchen. She didn't bother turning on the light; the moonlight streaming through the east-facing window was enough. She filled a glass with warm water and, as she turned, saw a tall silhouette standing at the doorway.

Startled, she instinctively recognized him as Elton. "You here for a drink too?" she asked, her voice low.

Elton lingered at the doorway for a moment before stepping inside. "Yeah," he mumbled.

Neither of them turned on the light. Agnes was about to leave when Elton suddenly called her name. "Agnes..."

She stopped and turned. "What's up?"

"Don't drink too much water at night," Elton said, trying to sound casual. "You'll have trouble sleeping."
