Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1222

Agnes always joined Jenny for meals, but she feared her friend might be too shy to accept her kindness outright. So, Agnes played it cool, claiming she had a thing for home-cooked meals. One day, Jenny brought over some caramel rice cakes. Turns out, they were quite a hit. Agnes genuinely loved them. Seeing Agnes's delight, Jenny started bringing them more often, and they happily shared each other's lunches. Their friendship was truly at its peak.

Agnes often reminisced about the movie nights and board game marathons they used to have, and it pained her heart. Those days were long gone. Jenny had already made her way to Agnes. Linking arms, she said, "Agnes, could you help me out in the kitchen? It's been ages since we cooked and chatted together."

Jared frowned, about to interject. But Agnes squeezed his hand gently and smiled, "Actually, I've got something to talk to you about." Turning to Jared, she suggested, "Why don't you play with the kids for a while?"

Jared was hesitant but agreed. After all, with him around, Jenny wouldn't dare pull any stunts. Watching Agnes and Jenny head to the kitchen, Esther cheerfully said, "Uncle Nocturne, my mom and Agnes are really good friends, aren't they? I'm so happy."

Nocturne, however, replied, "Star, not everything is as it seems." Esther looked puzzled, "What do you mean, Uncle Nocturne?" He simply said, "You're still a kid. Better you don't know."
