When Agnes was around, it seemed like Elton could only see her, no matter the situation.
Jenny approached them, "What a coincidence, Agnes! I'm here with Elton to pick up our daughter. You'll get to meet her."
Jenny scanned the room, and her gaze settled on a little girl who looked about four or five years old. She hurried over and scooped up Esther.
Jenny said, "You must be our little star, right? Do you recognize me? I'm your mom."
Esther looked perplexed and instinctively hid behind Agnes. Then, she spotted Elton. She ran towards him, grasping his finger, and called out, "Daddy."
In that moment, Agnes was certain. Esther was indeed Elton's daughter. It was too much of a coincidence.
Jenny walked over, crouched down, and extended a hand toward Esther. "Star, don't be scared. I'm your mom, I really am. If you don't believe me, ask your dad. We're here to take you home."
Esther looked up. "Daddy, is she really my mom?"
Elton's gaze finally shifted from Agnes. He glanced at Jenny. Their eyes met, and a warning flickered through Jenny's gaze. A hint of resignation appeared on Elton's face before he nodded. "Yes, she's your mom."
