Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1176

Kearney sneered, "This is definitely my mom's handwriting. I've compared it with her notes, and even had experts verify it. It's legit, no question about it."

Reggie, however, wasn't so sure. He pulled the envelope out of the plastic bag and opened it. Inside, there was indeed a piece of paper. The paper looked quite old. Though it had been handled so much it was smooth as wax, it was well-preserved, without any damage. The handwriting on it was also very clear. It was just a few short sentences.

Agnes was standing right next to Reggie, so she could see the contents of the letter very clearly. "My son, Reggie, has seized power for himself, heartless as a beast, killed your father, that's sin one, persecuted me, that's sin two. I've endured endless torment, driven to despair, I leave this letter. When you grow up, do not forget our family's vengeance. Only when our great enemy is dealt with, can we rest."

Reggie frowned as he read, his face still holding an expression of confusion. "This is definitely Regina's handwriting. Her letters are graceful, but there's a strength in her strokes that can't be mimicked," he said.

"So, you admit it then?" Kearney asked.

Reggie put down the letter and said, "But I don't understand why Regina would leave such a letter to mislead you. I had no quarrel with her. After your father's death, I took great care of her, worried you two might be implicated. I arranged for you to live in Australia. But less than two years later, your mother took her own life with sleeping pills, leaving you alone. I had no choice but to bring you back."
