Phoenix's tales grew increasingly far-fetched. Yet, with each word, Agnes's sense of unease only deepened. Phoenix offered a slight smile and fell silent. However, in a fleeting moment, Agnes caught a satisfied smirk playing on her lips, which sent a chill down her spine.
Agnes stayed in the room, keeping Phoenix company, but she couldn't shake her concern about Phoenix's condition. It seemed as though Phoenix was living halfway between reality and her own fantasies. How much suffering does it take for someone to create two separate worlds in their mind? Agnes was unsure whether this was a positive or negative development.
In an attempt to gather more information, Agnes asked, "Phoenix, during your time at the Albert’s Arms, have you ever heard of someone called Mr. X?" It was merely a probing question; she didn't expect a definitive answer. Yet, Phoenix furrowed her brow slightly and replied, "That's Sean."
Agnes was completely taken aback. What did she mean by Sean? In a low voice, Phoenix explained, "At the Albert’s Arms, we sometimes use initials for convenience. Sean is X, Kearney is L, I'm F, and Nate is Z, much like Nighthawk, whose name carries a bit more weight in our circles."
The mention of Sean seemed to ignite a flicker of curiosity in Phoenix. She asked, "Why are you asking about this?" Agnes's mind raced, but she was still bewildered. How could Mr. X be Sean? Valeria had mentioned discovering emails between Berlin's subordinates and Mr. X. That would suggest it was the boss. But how could it be him? None of it added up.
