Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1007

Who is Jared, you ask?

He was once the esteemed chairman of Tim Group, a name that echoed through the halls of corporate giants. Though the reins of Tim Group have since passed to Ryder, Mr. Whitfield, Jared, is no ordinary man. Stepping down from such heights, it’s unthinkable to see him settle for a mere assistant role at a television station. And not just any assistant role, but that of Agnes's assistant, no less. There’s bound to be more to the story.

The station manager, a savvy man, knows there’s a tangled web of emotions at play here. Agnes is Jared's ex-wife. Rumors of their rekindled romance have been swirling, yet at a recent gathering with Peter, Agnes seemed to be caught up in some drama with the station's new star, Ryder. Could Jared's departure from Tim Group be related to Agnes? The plot thickens.

Yet, when Mr. Whitfield proposed such a condition, the station manager found himself in a tight spot, unable to refuse. Agnes, however, was quick to dismiss the idea. "No way, I don't need an assistant of his caliber."

The station manager, caught between a rock and a hard place, glanced over at Jared. Stepping forward, Jared said, "Ms. Pritchard seems to have some misconceptions about me. I’m merely applying for a job for which I am more than qualified, especially considering my expertise in photography and software, not to mention my ability to learn quickly. I’m sure I won’t disappoint."

The truth was, Jared was overqualified, and that’s exactly why Agnes hesitated to hire him. Being the former chairman of Tim Group, it didn’t make sense for him to be applying as her assistant, unless he had ulterior motives. Agnes couldn’t quite figure out his angle.

She tried to let him down gently, "This place is too small for someone of your stature."

Jared raised an eyebrow, "If you acknowledge my stature, then you shouldn’t refuse. It’s not every day your ‘small temple’ gets a visit from a ‘big Buddha’."
