Back at the hotel, Eileen stepped out of the car and immediately spotted Galen standing at the entrance, arms crossed and looking like he meant business.
In an instant, she remembered why she'd joined "Valiant Quest" in the first place! Eileen glanced at Galen, feeling a bit sheepish.
Egbert pulled Eileen behind him protectively and said to Galen, "Alright, enough."
With that, he led Eileen towards the elevator. She stayed close to Egbert, making sure not to give Galen any opportunity to lecture her.
Once they were back in the room, Eileen had barely sat down when Galen barged in.
Eileen stiffened and immediately stood up straight, watching Galen warily.
Galen, trying to keep his temper in check, spoke to Egbert, "Let her rest. She's had a long day with all that action. It's exhausting just watching, not to mention dangerous. Get some good sleep!"
Eileen couldn't help but smile, showing her pearly whites and her eyes crinkling, "Okay!"
Galen then asked, "But what's the deal with your mentor?"
Eileen hesitated, remembering something else. She looked at Egbert and said, "I think I might have forgotten him?"
Egbert walked over, ruffled her hair, and whispered, "The military will follow up."
Remembering her mentor's skills, Eileen nodded, reassured.
But in the next moment, Egbert asked, "Did you have fun doing the show with him?"
Eileen paused, looked up at Egbert, thought for a moment, and then hugged him, resting her chin on his chest. "Only when I'm with you is it fun."
Egbert chuckled, seemingly appeased. He wrapped his arms around her waist and, looking down, stole a quick kiss from her lips.
Eileen blinked, surprised, but then stood on her tiptoes and returned the kiss!
Egbert was amused by her competitiveness. His eyes soft, he whispered in her ear, "Not enough."
"That's enough!" Galen finally snapped, unable to take it anymore.
He was exasperated, "Is there no end to this?"
Egbert, still holding Eileen, looked at him.
Galen, frustrated, said, "Egbert, get out here! Let her rest on her own! You've got an early start tomorrow; you can't stay together tonight!"
They had a 5 a.m. flight to catch to the neighboring city.
Egbert didn't insist on staying. He gave Eileen a kiss on the forehead and said softly, "Sleep well."
Eileen pulled away and nodded obediently, "Okay!"
As Galen dragged Egbert out, Egbert quipped before the door closed, "Usually, it's only the night before a wedding that the groom can't be with the bride."
Eileen: "..."
Galen: "..."
With a loud slam, Galen shut the door, unwilling to entertain Egbert's nonsense any longer!
Nighttime in the USA, which was daytime in Crestonia, saw the internet ablaze with news of Eileen's victory, trending topic after trending topic popping up.

By 4 a.m. US time, Eileen was comfortably nestled in the car heading to the airport, her head resting on Egbert's shoulder, still dozing.
Egbert, one hand on his phone, the other wrapped around her, occasionally stroked her hair to keep her comfortable.
In the front seat, Galen was on a call, "Yes, the flight's soon. Make sure everything's ready on your end..."
"Tap, tap."
Galen felt a couple of taps on his shoulder and turned to see Egbert.
Egbert, covering Eileen's ear with his hand, whispered, "Shh."
Galen: "..."
Annoyed, Galen said, "I'm on a call!"
Egbert replied, "She's sleeping."
Galen retorted, "It's my car!"
Egbert repeated, "She's sleeping."
Galen: "..."
Finally, Galen had to relent, telling the caller, "Just text me!" and hung up, switching to silent messaging so as not to disturb Eileen, lest Egbert shush him again!
By 9 a.m., they'd arrived in the neighboring city.
The event was set to take place at the downtown cinema.
The morning was a whirlwind of activity, with Eileen posing for so many photos her face felt stiff. Everyone wanted to ask her about "Valiant Quest."
They talked about how Dick was ranting online, demanding an apology, how Pook's hand was badly bruised and needed a cast, and how Mondot openly admitted he wanted to grab coffee with her because he genuinely admired her and hoped to stay in touch.
