"Bang!"
The bullet hit the doorframe outside the interrogation room.
Carlson's expression hardened, and he immediately grabbed Major Warner, pulling them both back into the room. Using the door panel as a makeshift shield, he cautiously peeked outside to assess the situation.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two more shots rang out from outside.
NightKing gripped his pistol tightly with one hand, while Eileen clung to his other arm, her face still painted with fear and shock.
NightKing's gray eyes narrowed as he focused on the girl before him, her recent words still echoing in his ears. She had called him... master?
"Whack!"
Eileen suddenly swung a punch, landing it squarely on NightKing's nose!
Caught off guard, NightKing's nose started bleeding, adding to his already grim expression.
Before he could recover, Eileen launched a second punch!
NightKing, gritting his teeth through the sting, managed to dodge this one, simultaneously blocking Eileen's lower-body attack.
The two of them were suddenly engaged in an intense, no-holds-barred scuffle!
Just as they traded blows, a fierce gust of energy cut through the air!
NightKing looked up, meeting Egbert's cold and intense gaze.
Now it was a three-way brawl.
NightKing, caught between Egbert and Eileen, was quickly cornered.
He gritted his teeth and growled, "Wait!"
But neither of them listened, continuing to pummel him relentlessly!
Just then, "Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Three shots hit precisely where they were standing.
Egbert instinctively pulled Eileen out of the line of fire.
NightKing also narrowly dodged a bullet!
Pausing their fight, the three of them pressed against the wall, catching their breath.
Eileen, however, wasn't done. She moved to strike again.
NightKing, visibly frustrated, blocked her attack: "Enough!"
Eileen seethed, "You hit my brother!"
NightKing's veins bulged with irritation, "I was saving him!"
Eileen scoffed!
At that moment, a bullet shattered the tile at their feet.
The sniper from the opposite building had been targeting them all along; if they poked their heads out, they would surely be hit.
Eileen's face was filled with frustration.
Egbert held Eileen's hand, urging her to calm down.
NightKing, with a fierce tone, explained, "I fired at the door to stop them from coming out. When they opened the door, I redirected my aim. Didn't hit him!"
Eileen glanced at the interrogation room, where, from her angle, she could see the bullet embedded in the doorframe.
The bullet had indeed veered off course.
Eileen pressed her lips together.
NightKing then asked, "What did you call me earlier?"
Eileen met his gaze, confidently declaring, "Master!"
For a moment, NightKing's typically stoic gray eyes widened in shock.
Egbert stared at Eileen, his expression darkening.
After her outburst, Eileen let out a derisive laugh, mocking, "You actually believed that?"
NightKing: "?"
Egbert: "..."
Eileen rolled her eyes at NightKing, "You really bought that? Are you an idiot?"
Seeing the conflicted look on her master's face, Eileen went on the offensive, twisting the truth, playing the victim, and muddling the story. Her master was left bewildered.
NightKing frowned, silently observing Eileen.
Eileen shamelessly claimed, "The situation was urgent. I just used 'master' to scare you. You know, I'm actually your junior."
NightKing was taken aback!
Eileen wasn't afraid to admit she was NightKing's junior; their skills were so similar, it needed a plausible explanation.
Since NightKing already assumed she was his junior, she decided to go along with it and pin the blame on their grandmaster.
Eileen wasn't worried about being found out because she knew their grandmaster had long passed away. Her true identity couldn't be verified by her master.
"Used 'master' to scare me?"
For some reason, NightKing found Eileen's explanation hard to believe.
