Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen novel Chapter 386

Olivia had gotten herself into trouble—a big one.

The reason? Spreading superstitious beliefs and causing undue panic.

In dorm room 309, Olivia sat on a chair, her lips quivering, eyes brimming with tears like little bubbles.

Eileen sat on the chair next to her, scratching her head awkwardly.

Una and Nana gently patted Olivia's dark, curly hair and said, “Why did you have to say all those spooky things in front of the coach? Now look what happened!”

Olivia sniffled, her voice thick with emotion. “I thought it would work…”

Una, intrigued, asked, “Has it worked before?”

Olivia nodded eagerly. “When I was little, my cousin used to pick on me, so I tried to curse him. Ten minutes later, my dad brought him back to me with a black eye, making him apologize.”

Una and Nana exchanged glances. Eileen remained silent, then mumbled, “Your dad must have a strong arm.”

Olivia shot her a moody look.

Eileen got up, walked over, and ruffled Olivia’s hair. “No matter what, you were trying to help me, so thank you.”

Olivia wiped her eyes with her sleeve and looked at Eileen. “Who are you going to call?”

Eileen paused, choosing her words carefully. “A friend.”

If there was indeed something fishy about her father's case, Eileen wanted to discuss it with Egbert first, to see if he knew anything.

If Mr. Magee had submitted the files to the Justice Department, then Mr. Reed might know something about it, and if Mr. Reed knew, Egbert likely did too.

Earlier, Eileen could have borrowed Mr. Magee's phone, but she didn’t trust him completely. She’d rather trust Egbert first.

Just then, Olivia offered, “I can help you get in touch.”

Eileen looked at Olivia, lowering her voice. “Did you sneak in a phone?”

Una and Nana were startled. “Olivia, if they catch you, you’re out!”

Olivia shook her head, her face pale but shyly confident. “I can communicate… spiritually.”

Eileen, Una, and Nana were speechless.

Eileen wiped her face, speaking with difficulty. “He’s alive, but thanks.”

Olivia quickly added, “I can do it for the living too!”

Seeing their skepticism, she insisted, “I really can!”

Eileen nodded, trying to humor her. “I know, I believe you, but you’ve inspired me. I don’t need to call him now. I’m going to send him a dream tonight. When it comes to daydreaming, I’m undefeated!”

Olivia was left speechless.

Eileen yawned dramatically. “See, I’m already getting sleepy. Aren’t you guys tired too?”

Una and Nana nodded vigorously. “So tired, so tired.”

With that, the three of them clambered into their beds, and within a minute, they were all sound asleep.

Olivia was left staring into the dark.

At 4:30 the next morning, the alarm blared like a fire drill.

Most students at the military academy were somewhat prepared for surprise assemblies.

The moment the alarm went off, Eileen threw off her covers and sat up swiftly.

Una was up second.

Nana was third.

Olivia turned over and continued to sleep.

Eileen, dressing quickly, went to Olivia’s bunk. She grabbed the frame of the bunk bed and shook it vigorously!

Olivia groaned awake.

Three minutes later, all four were out of the dorm, running.

On the field, the sky was still pitch black, and the campus lights cast a hazy glow.

“Where do we stand? Where do we stand?” Una, in a panic, dragged Nana to the right.

Eileen, holding Olivia’s hand, yanked Una back by her collar, pulling her towards the left with a stoic expression.

For the first assembly, students lined up according to their dorm numbers.

The field was chaotic.

Ten minutes later, with the arrival of the instructors, order was restored.

There were twenty instructors in total—fourteen men and six women.

Leading them was the main instructor, his head bandaged and arm in a sling. He was all too familiar—Commander Dirk, the one who’d lost two teeth but still stood firm and resolute.
