A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 804

"Well," Logan sighed like a little adult, crossing his arms over his chest. "Looks like the saga between you and my mom is never going to be resolved, huh?"

Yvan chuckled, though his face was drawn, his voice carried a surprising vitality. "Is that so? Then let's just stick with it for this lifetime. After all, with you as my son, the Boyd family line is secured. Who needs to marry anyone else?"

"Whoa!" Logan exclaimed as if hearing something outrageous. "I don't believe you could be that committed."

"I didn't believe it myself before," Yvan admitted, his gaze intense despite the physical toll recent events had taken on him. "But after losing my memory, being apart for so long, and then meeting her again... falling in love with her all over again, I believe it now."

"Do you really love her?" Logan's eyes were a mix of emotions. "Are you sure it's not just the memories and habits making you feel like you need to make it up to us?"

"If it's instinct, then," Yvan said something that made Logan's eyes sting with emotion, "no matter how many times we start over, falling in love with Matilda would always be my instinct."

Logan's fingers clenched tightly. "But..."

"No buts," Yvan shifted his gaze to the window. "I know my past actions were unforgivable, so I understand Matilda's caution towards me."

Logan didn't say more, only asked softly, "Will you continue to visit me and Mom?"

Yvan grinned mischievously. "What, worried you'll miss me if I'm gone too long? Don't worry, everything I've got will be yours to inherit one day."

Logan's face flushed as he stepped back. "Who wants your inheritance? I don't care!"

Yvan feigned contemplation. "Well... can't just throw it all away, can I? Give it to charity?"
