A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 802

"Hey, you guys, stop right there! Didn't you hear me?"

Someone behind them felt they were being treated unfairly again. "Since Dr. Keaton didn't let them cut in line, how come you're taking those four ahead of us right in front of our eyes? Isn't that cutting?"

If it weren't for Yvan, Logan, and Eugene all being under the weather, Declan would have probably rushed over and shut that guy up with his fists.

Lance halted in his tracks, turning back with a cold, mocking smile. "I'm not a doctor at this hospital, and I definitely don't see you all like Dr. Keaton does. I save whoever I want, and fairness doesn't come into it. If you want, beg me, and maybe if I'm in a good mood, I'll let you cut in line!"

A group of people was left trembling with anger. "You're not fit to be a doctor!"

"I'm not fit, am I? Yet I'm still walking out with my friends. What are you gonna do about it?" Lance waved his hand. "Let's go!"

Yvan shot an apologetic glance at Keaton, who sighed, "Go on, I've got plenty more people to look after here."

And just like that, Lance led Yvan and the others away, under everyone's watchful eyes, yet no one dared to stop him.

Because this was Lance. He played by his own rules, saving lives based on his whims. If he didn't feel like it, he'd let someone die right in front of him without batting an eyelid. He didn't have Dr. Keaton's sense of equality.

People stood there, dumbfounded, watching the white-haired man leave with Yvan and the others, feeling like they'd been slapped across the face.

...

The next time Yvan opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was an extravagant ceiling.

He didn't have to think twice to know that he must be in Lance's secret hideout. Only Lance would deck out a room to look like it belonged in a royal palace.

The door creaked open, and Yvan propped himself up on the bed, spotting Logan.

Logan's voice was still raspy, probably from the smoke inhalation. It would take a while to recover. "You're awake."
