A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 613

Yvan didn't utter a word, merely gazing at Rachel with an indifferent look that made her feel completely exposed. She clenched her teeth and refused to admit anything. Yvan didn't press her further, making Rachel suspect that he was more interested in witnessing her panic and struggle than in getting any real answers.

As Yvan was leaving, he offered a knowing smile, tinged with a certain sternness. His gaze was inscrutable, leaving Rachel feeling uneasy. Did Yvan know something?

Half an hour later, Carl arrived at Plum Resort to pick up Rachel, his expression as cold and mechanical as Yvan's. "Ms. Archer, I'm here on Mr. Boyd's orders to escort you out."

Still in her wheelchair, Rachel was slow to comprehend. When realization dawned, her eyes sparkled with surprise. "What? Yvan is taking me out?!"

It seemed her earlier ordeal was a test, and this development suggested she had passed Yvan's scrutiny. Of course, this was just Rachel's wishful thinking. Yvan intended for her to believe just that.

Carl, witnessing the joy on Rachel's face, felt detached. Considering the trouble Rachel had brought upon Matilda, resulting in her unfair imprisonment, he harbored no fondness for her.

Throughout the journey, Rachel bubbled with excitement, talking non-stop. "I knew Yvan couldn't stay away from me. I was sure he'd believe in me..."

She was convinced that Yvan remained unchanged from five years ago, momentarily swayed by Matilda but now seeing clearly again, evidenced by his decision to bring her back.

Rachel's pride was evident. Passing by Opal's, she made a deliberate noise. The old lady, who was trimming her garden, turned to see Carl with the luggage and Rachel being wheeled out, and froze.
