Right then, the townsfolks gathered around the ruins and watched the scene unfold. The two dead bodies on the ground were still bleeding, filling the air with the stench of blood.
Even though Matthew wasn't loud, everyone present was convinced. It looked like all Sebastian had to do was say a name, and that person would be the next one to get killed.
Watching Colton and Finley die before his eyes, Sebastian was terrified for a moment. Then, a sense of thrill took over.
Sebastian felt his pent-up anger from over a decade burst out at once. He even wished he could pick up a brick from the ground and smash it on them a few times.
Upon hearing Matthew's question, Sebastian suddenly remembered something. "There are two people in the town who borrowed money from Dad. They haven't paid him back for more than ten years. Does that count?"
Walking over to the rubble, Matthew got himself another brick. "Lead the way."
Sebastian pointed at his neighbor. "It's my neighbor. I'll guide you—"
The crowd suddenly erupted in a commotion. Many people stepped back, leaving one person standing in the open space. All eyes were on him.
It was Odell Myler, a man in his 50s. Looking fancy, he had a gold pendant around his neck, a gold watch on his wrist, and an Audi car key in his hand. He looked pretty successful.
But the look on his face was one of pure terror. When he saw Matthew looking over, his face turned as white as a sheet.
Odell kept trying to explain to Sebastian, "I'm strapped for cash at the moment, Sebastian. It's not that I don't want to pay you back. I'm still figuring out how to. Please don't kill me. If you do, you won't get back any of your money."
Sebastian snapped, "Every time, it's the same excuse about being tight on money. It's been ten years. You drive a fancy car and a nice watch, yet I still haven't gotten a dime back from you. You have to settle up today."
Odell went pale, and his eyes were filled with fear. "I'll pay you back right away. I'll figure out a way to get you money. Don't worry. I swear I'll pay you."
Matthew approached Odell with a brick. "Then make it quick."
Odell was shaking with fear as he kept fumbling with his phone. "I'm sending the money right now. It'll be in your account in just a minute.
"Alright. The money has been transferred. Can you check your account, Sebastian?"
With a chime, Sebastian's phone buzzed with a text message alert.
Matthew took out his phone and glanced at it. "Alright. I've received the money."
