Carlos clutched the wound on his chest. "You… How dare you kill so many people? Are you insane?"
Matthew was crouching on the ground as he waved his knife under the rain. Very quickly, his knife regained its original shine.
He then stood up and wiped the rain off of his face before he looked at Carlos and said, "What should I have done then?
"Should I have resigned to fate and allowed the Woods to kill me? Why should I do that?"
Upon hearing that, Carlos gritted his teeth as his face contorted in anger. "Horace is the General of the army, and he's not someone you can mess with. So, you're basically digging your own grave here!"
Matthew replied coldly, "You don't have to worry so much about me—you're a dying man yourself."
Having heard his response, Carlos looked down at the wound on his chest. Then, he proceeded to cough up large gouts of blood. "I… I don't understand… I…"
Matthew treaded on the wet ground as he braved the rain to the entrance of the basement's first floor.
Meanwhile, Carlos watched as Matthew's figure diminished from his sight. His body gradually weakened, and he murmured, "He's just a bumpkin. Even if he were the strongest man alive… He'd be dead if he messed with Horace…"
Carlos had yet to finish his words when he collapsed to the ground.
At this moment in time, all of the doctors and nurses were hiding in their offices upstairs. They were scared out of their wits and made sure that all the doors and windows were tightly shut.
Since none of them wanted to get involved in the current situation, they collectively agreed to say that they didn't know anything if anyone were to come their way.
Consequently, there was no one looking after the patients, so all of them were crouching by the stairwell to watch the situation unfold.
One of the male patients began to dance with excitement as he watched the scene below. "See that? I was just like him back then—cutting down my enemies with a legendary sword and leaving a trail of scattered bodies behind me.
"That's who I was, so please refer to me as 'Invincible General' from now on!"
Listening to that, another man retorted, "Nonsense! Why should we call you the Invincible General? Back in the day, I used to lay siege and dye the streets red with my enemies' blood.
"In a battle for land, I filled the barren fields with multitudes of corpses. There's not a single enemy who could match up to me, so I'm the Invincible General here!"
Just then, a bearded man in his 40s, who was weeping uncontrollably, said, "They violated my daughter, and my wife lost her mind.
"I should have slaughtered them all like this with a knife and ended their lives! Let me out! I'm not insane! I'm not mentally ill! I'll kill them all! I'll wipe out his entire family!"
Upon hearing that, another long-haired man in his 40s laughed out loud. "Nice! That was a good kill. You should do more of it. From today onward, I'll start practicing martial arts and training until I achieve Peerless Swordsmanship.
"Clearly, it was my wife who cheated since both the kids aren't mine! So, why aren't they sentenced to jail?
