The Wood family? Upon hearing the surname, Matthew immediately thought about Isaac. Their surnames couldn't be just a coincidence. They were certainly related.
With his killing intent ramping up, Matthew's gaze was sharp as a dagger as he glanced over Dallas' neck.
However, he fought the urge to draw the blade and coldly asked, "The Wood family, huh? I've never heard of anyone so powerful in the Wood family. Are you just trying to scare me?"
Seeing that Matthew didn't go for the blade, Dallas knew he was safe. Matthew was clearly scared.
Dallas firmly held onto his wound, toughing it out as he replied, "I'm telling you the truth. There's someone in the Wood family in a high position. One word from him, and you're done for."
Matthew swung the blade in his hand. "Who cares if he's influential? How does that affect me? He can play his political games, and I'll just go about my life.
"Society follows laws and regulations. Just because he's powerful doesn't mean he can do anything to me."
Dallas looked at Matthew as if he was a fool. "You've got to be kidding me. You're not that young anymore, yet you're so naive. Don't you get how society operates?"
After saying that, Dallas glanced at the bed not far away, where Sebastian sobbed as he tended to Theo's injuries.
Dallas looked like he thought of a better justification. "You must know how Sebastian got in here, right? Craig tore down his house and made a ton of money, but he got sent to a psychiatric hospital. Even though Craig was just a mayor, he got to decide his fate.
"The person I'm referring to has way more influence than Craig, literally worlds apart. Just one word from him will alter your destiny. If you even so much as touch me, your life is over."
Next to Dallas, Sebastian rose to his feet and walked over upon hearing his name mentioned. "You've put Dad through hell. I'm going to kill you today."
Sebastian stormed up to Dallas. Realizing he had nothing in his hand, he crouched and picked up the scabbard from the floor. He looked like he was ready to swing at Dallas.
