Matthew frowned and said solemnly, "You want to live? Truth be told, I don't want to kill you either, but I'm worried that you'll seek revenge later!"
Maurice was in so much pain that his body began to twitch as well, but his desire to survive made him respond instinctively.
"I promise I won't seek revenge. I swear in the name of Ivor Blackwood that I won't seek revenge on you. If I end up seeking revenge, Ivor Blackwood shall renounce my soul forever."
Matthew nodded and said, "I really want to believe you, but I don't know you at all. How can I trust you when I don't even know your name and where you're from?"
Just then, Maurice replied anxiously, "I can tell you that. My name is Maurice Quade, and I live in Nordhaven.
"Please just ask me everything you wanna know quickly. My blood will dry up if you delay any longer!"
Matthew then said with a cold expression, "I'll try to be quick. Right… Hmm… Who sent you, and what are your plans?"
When Maurice saw that Matthew was stumbling over his own words and taking his own sweet time, he couldn't help but wallow in hatred. It was his life on the line, after all.
He couldn't be more frightened and answered even more quickly. "I'm an employee from Seven Stars Enterprise, and I'm here to publish cartoons. The main idea was to incorporate the things we wanted to promote into the cartoons.
"A while ago, I took on a mission and did everything in my power to find the medical literature. I wanted to ship those books back to Eastoria.
"That's all! I've told you everything, so please save me now. Quick! It might be too late if we delay even a second longer!"
Just then, Matthew asked again, "You know the Red Wolves, right?"
Maurice was seen to get progressively anxious and said, "I don't know the Red Wolves. It's the first I've heard of them. I've said everything, so please save me now."
So, he didn't know… Matthew let out a chilling sigh and said, "The trust that I mentioned is only limited to friends. As for thieves… You can see yourself to hell!"
