With a darkened expression, Matthew got out of the car and looked around.
The villa was brand new. The yard had all kinds of exotic flowers and a rock garden with a fountain. In the garden that led to the villa, there was a small bridge with a peaceful stream running beneath it.
Matthew turned to Everett. "Who's your boss?"
Everett shoved Matthew. "You'll find out when you see him. Your fate is up to him now."
Matthew asked, "Aren't we talking about the money I owe? I'll just pay it back. There's no reason to kill me for it."
Everett shook his head. "You actually took my word about owing money?"
As the conversation ensued, Matthew was brought inside the villa. The interior was elegantly decorated with antique pieces that really elevated the place.
In the living room, a man in his 50s was puffing on a cigar. A saber rested on the coffee table in front of him. The blade was honed and reflected a white glow under the lamp.
When the man saw Matthew being brought over, he scrutinized Matthew with a narrowed gaze.
Everett pushed Matthew right up to the man. "We've got him, boss."
Giles uncrossed his arm. He took a puff of a cigar and fixed his gaze on Matthew. "You shouldn't have messed with Isaac. Some people are way more important than you can ever imagine. If he gets so much as a scratch, you're in serious trouble."
Matthew kept his eyes on the man and asked, "Are you here because of Isaac? Are you aware he's after my fiancée?"
