"What?" Silas was left speechless after uttering that one word. He had said something similar before during a discussion about treating heart disease.
Matthew had come up with a mind-blowing treatment, and at that moment, Silas praised Matthew highly. "You're the best doctor I've ever seen. You're truly at the top of medical skills."
Back then, Silas really meant it when he said that, which was why he was at a loss for words now.
Gideon turned to Matthew and sized him up curiously. "Your medical skills are impressive, huh?"
Matthew nodded. "Honestly, I haven't come across anyone who's better."
Matthew wanted to steer clear from Genesis Sect, so he just put it out there bluntly. Still, Matthew was telling the truth. As a doctor, he had his pride.
Gideon sneered. "You've really gotten on my nerves. If you said that in front of regular doctors, it wouldn't be a big deal. After all, they're a bunch of losers.
"But everyone in Genesis Sect is a medical genius, even the least talented one among us. His skills are more than enough to make you drop to your knees and worship him.
"You're going to regret disrespecting Genesis Sect. Kneel and swear your loyalty to me as my apprentice, and I might spare your life."
Matthew turned to Silas. "If you want to be part of Genesis Sect, you need to wake up. See that? They're forcing people in with death threats. Is this the kind of doctor you want to be?"
Silas felt like he had been slapped with a cold, hard truth. His burning enthusiasm was quickly snuffed out. He nervously moved away from Gideon and hid behind Matthew.
Upon seeing this, Gideon had an odd expression, like a seasoned butcher. It was a calm and detached look as if he had been used to taking lives.
